Olympus has been quite a proponent of
the micro four-thirds format for mirrorless cameras and they have shown
their commitment to the system.
Olympus has
furthered its commitment to the micro four-thirds standard by adding the
M.Zuiko Digital ED 75-300mm f/4-6.7 II telephoto lens to its existing
line-up of glass for the format. The addition of this telephoto lens
brings the lens count in Oly’s portfolio up to 16 for the mirrorless
cameras.
Along with getting bumped up to Version
II, the lens also deviates significantly from the looks of its
predecessor, version 1 of the same lens. The lens is now available only
in a full black finish and incorporates the ZERO-Coating, Oly’s own lens
treatment to minimize ghosting and flaring.
The lens is constructed out of 18
elements arranged in 13 groups including a Super ED (extra dispersion)
lens, 2ED lenses, and 3 HR (High Refractive Index) lenses, to give your
micro-four thirds mirrorless camera some serious optical prowess. The
offers an equivalent 150-600mm focal length, and combined with Olympus’
5-axis sensor-shift stabilization, the lens will be ideal for anyone
into birding or wildlife photography in general.
This lens will be available in March of
this year for an estimated price of $549.99, and with that, it will be
phasing out the older version of the lens.
