Facebook aims to address privacy
concerns surrounding its new Graph Search feature. The social networking
giant details the new feature in an explanatory blog post and video,
and a new Ask Our CPO series.
Following
users privacy concerns around Graph Search, Facebook has come up with an
explanatory blog post and video to assure the new feature is safe for
its users. Facebook also announced a new feature, "Ask Our CPO," which
seeks questions or comments about Facebook's privacy policy from users.
“Before Graph Search began rolling out, we highlighted a set of upgraded privacy tools on Facebook
encouraging people to review what they've shared. The upgraded privacy
tools, and the reminder to use them, are part of an ongoing effort to
encourage people to make choices that are right for them,” says
Facebook's Michael Richter in a post.
“Privacy works consistently across
Facebook, not just on Graph Search. When you control who you share your
information with, you determine who it's shared with across Facebook -
including News Feed, timeline and in Graph Search.” Read Frequently
Asked Questions about Graph Search here. Check out the video on info on how privacy works on Facebook and Graph search below article:
In a separate post, Facebook explains the purpose of Ask Our CPO series.
“In the “Ask Our CPO” series, we ask
people to submit questions they have about privacy. In this first
edition, Erin Egan, our Chief Privacy Officer of Policy, explains why we
created this series and answers some questions she receives frequently
about privacy,” says the company.
“At Facebook, we work hard to build and maintain your trust. We understand that you’ll want to share on Facebook only if you trust us to protect the privacy and security of your information. We also understand that issues about privacy can be complex given the fast-moving nature of technology and that you have questions about privacy.”
