Today's Google doodle is dedicated to
the renowned British archaeologist and anthropologist Mary Leakey, who
is widely popular for discovering the first fossilized Proconsul.
Born on February 6 1913, Mary Leakey is
popular for her major discoveries and contributions to the archaeology.
She is also known for developing a system that helps classify stone
tools found at Olduvai as well as discovering Laetoli footprints. Leakey
also discovered the Zinjanthropus (Paranthropus, a genus of extinct
hominins) skull. She passed away on December 9, 1996 at the age of 83.
